Penile Botox uses botulinum toxin (Dysport) injected into the corpus cavernosum, the erectile tissue of the penis. It relaxes the smooth muscle there, so blood flows in more easily when you're aroused, and erections are firmer.
The evidence is strong. In two randomized, placebo-controlled trials, a single injection improved erections — and in the larger of the two, the effect lasted up to six months. One treatment, months of benefit.
Botulinum toxin is FDA-approved for other uses; using it for erectile dysfunction is off-label. The same treatment also smooths the appearance of the shaft and scrotum at rest, reduces scrotal sweating and softens wrinkled scrotal skin.
